Here's early access to a video about a cheap HDMI to YPbPr DAC. I really struggled with how much time I should spend on a product with an unreliable stock/store, as well as if I should put it on the main RetroRGB YouTube channel, or the second channel. I ended up putting it on the main channel, as maybe we can all turn this into a "hunt for the right YPbPr DAC" and I'll compile a list of links here to make things easier. The real solution is for someone in the community to make a basic, reliable, sub-$50 HDMI to YPbPr DAC, to cover anyone who doesn't need a higher-end DAC with all the extra features. But until that happens, I guess this is better than nothing. Oh and I reached out to the store, who told me they have "plenty of units available". Uh huh...let's see how long this actually stays in stock ;/
Here's a cheap HDMI to YPbPr component video DAC (digital to analog converter) that's compatible with 15Khz 240p and 480i signals - Something that's surprisingly hard to find these days. It's quirky, but at under $20, it's a great budget option. I'm sure this link will sell out quickly, but I'll update this post anytime someone finds a link to a store selling ones with the exact same motherboard and Lontium chip (see pic below).
