That said, this is still a fair review, and Supermicro had no input or requirements for this video, or any future projects on the channel.

AMD's Epyc Turin architecture has been out for over a year now, but that doesn't make it any less exciting. Zen 5 might have been a bit of a letdown on the consumer side of things, but the efficiency and performance gains in their server chips has been an absolute game changer.

Case in point, the AMD Epyc 9965, featuring 192 Zen 5c cores running at up to 3.7GHz, making for a single server with 384-Cores and 768-Threads, along with 24-Channels of DDR5-6400. This thing is an absolute beast.

Check out the Supermicro AS-2126HS-TN here: https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/system/hyper/2u/as-2126hs-tn

Other servers and networking from my Homelab...

*Links to items below may be affiliate links for which I may be compensated*

- Supermicro "X79" Microcloud -

Supermicro 5037MR-H8TRF: https://ebay.us/gA6OCD

Supermicro "X99" Node X10SRD-F: https://ebay.us/IlrkDW

Supermicro Xeon-D X10SDD-F: https://ebay.us/xC94cD

Sliding Rails for Microcloud: https://ebay.us/vLWdHx

Intel Xeon E5-2651v2 12-Core (10-Pack): https://ebay.us/e9ydi8

Intel Xeon E5-2667 v2 8-Core 4.0GHz: https://ebay.us/CQE67Q

Nvidia Tesla P4: https://ebay.us/DLxAEj

Sparkle Intel Arc A310: https://amzn.to/4rn5JzZ

Sun F80 Warpdrive 800GB (4x200GB) SSD: https://ebay.us/xZ96ux

Supermicro AOC-CTG-L1S 10Gb SFP+ Adapter: https://ebay.us/KzjwcY

Dual m.2 SATA PCIe Controller: https://amzn.to/49VG9vY

Seagate 8TB Ironwolf Pro SATA HDD: https://amzn.to/3NpiXO0

- 24-Bay NAS -

AMD Threadripper 9970X: https://amzn.to/45ftroj

ASUS Pro WS TRX50 -SAGE WiFi CEB: https://amzn.to/4lhF9oD

G.Skill G5 Neo 4x32GB 6400 ECC: https://amzn.to/3Jj2h8H

Intel 3D XPoint 16GB Optane Boot Drive: https://ebay.us/XMuv2c

Supermicro 846 24-Bay Chassis: https://ebay.us/rCA4eb

Mellanox MCX455A-ECAT ConnectX-4 100Gbps: https://amzn.to/4a2W2OG

- 100Gb Network -

https://youtu.be/wO9Fw86OM0o

Mikrotik CRS504-4XQ-IN 4-port QSFP28 Switch - https://amzn.to/3JPX4mW

Intel 100GBASE-CWDM4 QSFP28 SMF Transceiver - https://ebay.us/RhlDkb

LC to LC Single Mode Fiber Patch Cable - https://amzn.to/3yPPVN3

100G QSFP28 to 4x 25G SFP28 Passive DAC: https://amzn.to/3ZZpMas

- 45Drives Storinator AV15 -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZU7rNBl6cg

- 45Drives HL15 Homelab Server -

https://youtu.be/YJCnxJ5GlIs

To find out more, visit https://45homelab.com/

Grab yourself a Pint Glass at https://craftcomputing.store

Follow me on Bluesky @CraftComputing.bsky.social

Support me on Patreon and get access to my exclusive Discord server. But it's not just the power that's holding things back. Cooling, water consumption, and even land use are all major factors for modern datacenters to solve, and Panthalassa is an Oregon-company that might have just figured out how to make it all work, and their solution is fully renewable.

Panthalassa is developing a solid-state wave generator, capable of up to 1MW of energy production. But as part of these generators, they're also going to integrate datacenters that will literally float out at sea. Infinite cooling capabilities, unlimited free energy, no land use. They can be used to tunnel your traffic to another part of the world, get you access to shows and events that aren't available in your region, and even help obfuscate your online footprint. Today, I'm going to show you how to set up a VPN Gateway, which allows ANY device to connect through a commercial VPN to either spoof what region you live in, or hide your activity from prying eyes.

But first...
